Teaching:

Service Learning trained and certified.

Experience in teaching and designing curriculum for Foundations and Ceramic courses. Active attention to introducing the contemporary art world, art history, social practice, technical skill building, the role of social media, concept/idea research, open discussion, and the artist as active citizen. 

Grant Writing:

Graduate Student Senate (GSS) funding grants for School of Art+Design Graduate Open Studios events x4 – Ohio University

Gallery: 

Curating, lighting, handling artworks, working with artists, shipping, packing, organizing, marketing, advertising, social media, installing works of various sizes/mediums, vinyl printing/cutting, events posters and postcards, non-profit funding

Ceramics:

Forming: Comprehension and knowledge of advanced building methods, including solid form, coil, slab, and pinch, as well as both additive and subtractive sculpting methods. Advanced knowledge of building large-scale work. Experience with the potters’ wheel and thrown forms. Experience with low, mid, and high fire clay bodies.

Firing: Experience firing gas, electric, wood, and raku kilns: low, mid, and high temperatures.

Finishing Methods: Underglazes, Mason Stains, Glazes (low, mid, and high fire), Wax Resist, Decals, Luster, China Paint. Experience with multi-media and the ceramic form, including oil, acrylic, and spray paints, resin, epoxy, wood putty, metal, wood, feathers, and rock. Experience with wall pieces, installation, and hanging mechanisms. Experience with sanding, grinders, and Dremel tools. Advanced experience sandblasting, small and large work.

Metal:

Intermediate knowledge of TIG welding, grinding, cutting, drilling, and assembly. Basic knowledge of metal shop. Specializing in steel.

Wood:

Working knowledge and training of woodshop tools and equipment: table saw, band saw, jig saw, planer, joiner, miter saw, drill press, panel saw, various sanders, brad nailer, handheld power tools. Advanced knowledge of varnish, lacquers, stains, and finishes. Woodshop tech experience. Intermediate knowledge of wood types and application.

Painting/Drawing:

Advanced life drawing skills, composition, and study in charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, pen and ink, acrylic paint, oil paint, and watercolors. Canvas building/stretching.

Printmaking:

Silkscreen: Comprehension and knowledge of silkscreen printing methods, using both single and multiple screen presses, ink mixing and layering, design, transparency making, printing on various surfaces such as canvas, cloth, wood, ceramics, and glass.

Relief: Advanced knowledge and comprehension of cutting and printing methods in various types of wood on both large and small scales. Advanced knowledge of reduction printing and relief inks. Experience printing with various sized presses and steam roller.

Etching: Basic knowledge of etching chemicals, composites, and mark making.

Lithography: Intermediate knowledge of design, wax mark making, and stone printing. Understanding of process and usage of printing chemicals.

Glass:

Experience with cutting glass and glass etching agents and solvents.
